FUTURE GOALS:
Establish a recurring program with Long Way Home, where volunteers can join us and setup more filters and also help around the Hero School. In addition, we hope to expand to neighboring villages outside of the school, through working with LWHome, to create a larger impact for the community
PHASE ONE
Our first goal in Comalapa is to provide every family connected to the Long Way Home school with a reliable water filter. During our first trip, we set up 50 filters, serving 50 families. But that’s just the beginning, with around 200 families in need, we’re working to return with more filters until every family has access to clean, safe drinking water. This phase focuses on group-based filter education, hands-on support, and ensuring no family is left behind.

PHASE TWO
In Phase Two, we plan to train the students at Long Way Home to become WATA AMBASSADORS. With proper guidance, filter training materials, and our ongoing support, these students will help bring clean water to families across San Juan Comalapa. They’ll learn to set up and maintain filters, teach others how to use them, and help us expand our reach deeper into the community. This isn’t just about water, it’s about empowerment, education, and long-term sustainability.
