THE PROBLEM
Access to clean drinking water remains a daily challenge in La Guajira, one of the most water-insecure regions in Colombia. Many Indigenous Wayuu communities rely on inconsistent water deliveries, stored rainwater, or natural sources that are often contaminated.
Families are frequently forced to choose between drinking unsafe water or spending limited income on alternatives. Boiling water is not always practical, and long-term solutions are often out of reach for rural communities.
This isn’t a temporary issue, it’s a systemic gap in access, infrastructure, and resources.
W.A.T.A. works alongside local partners to address this at the household level, providing filtration systems, training, and long-term support that communities can rely on.

PROJECTS

WOVEN TOGETHER
Every mochila tells a story of generosity, craftsmanship, and clean water.
After our project in La Guajira, a group of Wayuu women surprised W.A.T.A. with handmade mochilas as a gift of gratitude. We decided that each bag would continue the impact by helping fund another water filter for another family.
Every purchase supports Wayuu artisans and helps bring clean water to more communities.
